Fashion Tips to Fit any Man’s Body Type

We all want to give off our own unique image to the world at hand. It doesn’t matter what image you would like the world to see. If you’re not dressing to match your body style, then it doesn’t matter what you choose to wear since you’re only going to be wasting your time. No matter how you see yourself, be it either trendy, corporate or casual, your overall goal is to look complete.

A man’s body usually varies less in form with other men than a womans body does, but that doesn’t mean that variations don’t exist. It is important for every guy to know how to dress for their own body type as well as which style they should avoid at all costs. Knowing these tricks is the key to honing their own unique, personal style. Dress for your body type, find clothes flattering for you, and avoid the common body-type faux pas men make through these quick tips:
Monochromatic colors You don’t want to wear a shirt with a pair of pants in two contrasting colors. A white shirt with black pants will not only make you look like a waiter but also break you in half with your belly and hips standing out from the rest of you. Wear shirts and pants which are similar in color creating a nice, clean impression. It will also make you look ten pounds thinner. Actually anything in black will make you look slimmer, just make sure you add some color with accessories to prevent that goth look.
Steer clear of turtlenecks For those of you out there who are body mass challenged or on the heavier side, you don’t want to be wearing turtlenecks this winter. Try to buy sweaters or long sleeve shirts with a V-neck. This naturally draws the eyes downward creating the effect of a sleeker silhouette. It also makes you appear to have a longer neck instead of your short neck or double chin.

Say no to horizontal stripes There are a large number of guys out there who have a little more in the stomach area than they would like. Sometimes it’s a beer belly, other times it just lack of exercise. If you are one of these guys, then you need to stop wearing shirts with horizontal stripes. Vertical ones are ok but say no to horizontal ones. The reason being is that vertical stripes elongate your silhouette giving you the appearance of being visually slim. Paired up a nice black dress shirt, you cannot go wrong with a pinstripe suit for any office Christmas party this year.. Even a nice pinstripe dress shirt can work for you at any occasion.

Pick your prints carefully Don’t wear T-shirts and dress shirts that have large or busy prints on them. This holds especially true for larger, bulky men. Not only are the tacky but they also draw attention to your body’s upper half. Not the best plan if you are trying to stop everyone from noticing your big belly. Wear a shirt with a small print that is spaced quite far apart and you’ll no doubt look your best.

Buy a belt A nice belt not only looks stylish but will also give you an added tuck in your waistline to make you look slimmer. You don’t want any belly overhang also known as a muffin tops so don’t wear your belt too tight.

How To Wear Mens Blazers In 2013

In times past, blazers were mainly worn by public school students and Oxford undergrads. But today, the humble blazer has undergone a huge revolution, transforming into one of the biggest mens fashion statements of 2012.

Thanks to its refined tailoring and versatility, this trend looks set to continue well into 2013. Not sure what all the fuss is about? Heres a quick guide to why mens blazers deserve their new fashionable status, along with a few tips on how to wear them.

Why a blazer beats a coat

While mens coats often prioritise function over style, blazers offer protection from the elements as well as an effortless sense of fashion. Thats not to say they should be worn in a blizzard instead, they offer the perfect form of outerwear for spring and autumn, when the weather is in a transitional phase. Better still, theyre also suitable for wearing indoors, as an alternative to a cardigan or jumper.

Another great thing about blazers is that they suit men of all shapes and sizes. Paired with fitted trousers, they highlight the lean shape of tall and slender men without over-emphasising a slim frame. Shorter men too benefit from the fine tailoring of a good blazer, because they help to define the upper body and make legs look longer. Men with a square or stocky frame, on the other hand, should pair a blazer with an open-collared shirt for a flattering smart-casual look.

Ways to wear a blazer

If youre looking for a blazer to wear to the office, concentrate on serious colours like navy blue, brown or black. Pair with fitted chinos, a collarless shirt and brogues for an easy smart look thats not too formal. For a more laid-back office vibe, swap the shirt for a crisp white t-shirt and wear boat shoes instead of brogues.

For a casual outfit that oozes contemporary style, look for mens blazers made from jersey. Choose a block colour and pair with a striped or gingham top for a striking informal statement. To add a dash of colour to a cocktail party, go for blazers in bright colours like emerald green, mustard or electric blue. Coloured blazers are a great way to liven up formal events that dont specify a black-tie dress code.

That said, blazers are appropriate for weddings too. Try switching your suit jacket for a tweed or velvet blazer and pair with your usual suit trousers and a tie or a bow-tie. Tailored blazers go well with kilts too and are a stylish alternative to the traditional Bonnie Prince Charlie jacket. Or make an elegant statement at a summer wedding with a pin-striped blazer and crisp white trousers.

How To Wear Pashmina

A Multitude of Ways to Wear the Ultra-Versatile Pashmina

If youre choosing which Pashmina shawl to wear, would you go for a 36″ x 80″ light blue and black gradient shawl or a red embroidered Pashmina shawl? Over the years, this Nepal-born product has emerged as a favorite accessory among women from all parts of the world. But what exactly is it about Pashmina which makes it a standout among all the other materials used in making shawls? Pashmina is the name of a breed of goat that grows in the Himalayan mountains. Being at such a high altitude, they need to have that natural protection against warmth, and that is exactly what their inner coat does. The goats inner coat is gathered as wool, and the fibers are hand-woven into intricately-designed, beautiful, luxurious Pashmina shawls.

Aside from the different colors and patterns of Pashmina shawls that you can choose from, there is also a variety of materials available. If you want the full-fledged experience of wearing a Pashmina shawl, you can choose a 100% Pashmina shawl. If it indicates in the label that the shawl is 70% Pashmina, it means that the rest of the material is made from silk fiber. It also pays to choose a Pashmina shawl that is hand-woven so that you will get that luxurious feel that this accessory is known for.

Different Ways to Wear a Pashmina

Yet another reason why a lot of women consider a Pashmina shawl as a must-have is the fact that there are dozens of ways that it can be worn. Take a look at the different ways that you can wear beautiful Pashmina shawls:
In a casual knot around your neck.

In a classic knot.

In a series of knots that resemble a chain.
For a more unique look, tie the Pashmina shawl in a series of knots around your neck that resemble a chain. You can either leave the knots hanging in front of you, on your side or turn the shawl around and leave the knots at the back.

In a twisted knot.

Other ways to tie a Pashmina shawl around your neck.
You can also wear your Pashmina shawl in a hacking knot, a double hacking knot, a knotted loop, a bow or wear it similar to a mens necktie.

Who Needs Color

Who needs color?

I’ve been talking a lot recently about how color is one of the big trends right now in mens fashion. Well, it’s not just me – everyone has been talking about colour. -Crayon bright- color is what I heard someone describe it as recently, which is cool way of describing exactly how vivid and eye-catching the use of color is on the runways and catwalks of the world as well as in our favorite high street stores. This season is all about colour. But then there’s white. It’s a bit of an interesting dichotomy and I’m not going to pretend to really understand it, but at a time when we’re seeing a lot of colour and contrast in mens fashion, we’re also seeing a lot of designers devote their collections on outfits that are just monochrome visions of white. This is not just a summer separates thing, this is white upon white in different textures and fabrics. White as the opposite of all things colour. What confuses me a little bit is that sometimes we are getting it in the same collection – a string of crayon bright colour vibrancy and then boom, this is how we do it in white. In this article we take a look at how you can make bold statements in white.

Getting spiritual?

V magazine (which I love) recently ran an editorial looking at the white trend in mens fashion and concluded that it reflected a nod to -spiritualisation- in menswear. I’m not totally sure that I get the soulful feel from an all white ensemble, but check out this amazing jacket from Air that was featured in the shoot by Ben Lamberty and modeled by German model Bastian Thiery who is featuring in a lot of editorial work at the moment.

Snow leopard camouflage

I really love Ksenia Shnaider’s white on white camouflage effect used in the FW14 collection. This is a label from the Ukrainian husband and wife team of Ksenia Marchenko and Anton Schnaider – she’s a fashion designer and he is a graphic designer. Their current collection is kind of a blend of military uniforms, sportswear, camouflage, and white. All bang-on trend right now. Genius.

White can be wrong

An all white outfit can be a bit of a challenge to wear – any time that I’ve attempted it I seem to spill coffee or red wine, sit somewhere without first checking that it’s spotlessly clean, or order spaghetti bolognese. Apart from those practicalities, there is also the risk that you look like you have just escaped from some sort of psychiatric facility or a science fiction movie from the 1970s. All of these problems seem to have been embraced by new label MER (a collaboration from Federico Frotto Scuttie (an Italian from Uruguay) and Attila Lajos (from Hungary) – their connection is that they both studied in Vienna. Their SS15 collection is beautifully conceptual and features a lot of white on white, but somehow it screams science-fiction psycho more than street-smart swagger.

Celebrity Styling

You don’t have to look too far beyond the gossip magazines to see a lot of our favourite male celebrities effortlessly rocking the all white look. From Soulja Boy to Kanye – everybody is doing it.

Embrace your summer style god and step out set to dazzle in an all white ensemble. Just don’t order the spaghetti bolognese.
