Surfactant
The organic compounds which contain both, hydrophobic group and hydrophilic group are known as surfactants. The hydrophobic group doesn’t like water is it is repelled by whater whereas hydrophilic group is attracted towards water and so when both the groups combine, they enable to form different structures. When surfactant is dissolved in water, hydrophobic group and hydrophilic group enable to form different structures as they are having different reactions towards the water. Thus, the surfactant can act as an emulsifier also which can remove dirt from the surfaces. It is very much difficult to mix oil and water but due to surfactants, it can be done easily and thus oily substances can be removed with the help of surfactants. Each and every unique surfactant has different characteristics and properties. Depending on the type of the charge of the head, a surfactant belongs to the anionic, cationic, non-ionic or amphoteric family of surfactants.
Oilfield Chemicals
The oilfield chemicals are used to drill oil and gas from the oilfields. There are different types of oilfield chemicals used for which are mentioned below:-
Demulsifier
The demulsifiers can separate water from oil and the most common use of a demulsifier is to process crude oil because it avoids corrosion problems. The demulsifier helps in removing water and salt from the crude oil before refining. The electrostatic forces of repulsion reacting between the water droplets can be decreased with the help of demulsifiers. Oil soluble demulsifiers and water soluble demulsifiers are two types of demulsifiers and the decision of which type of be used depends on the emulsions to be separated.
Corrosion Inhibitor
A chemical compound when added to a liquid or gas decreases the corrosion rate of a metal or an alloy is known as a corrosion inhibitor. With the help of corrosion inhibitors, the internal corrosion attack from carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulphide and oxygen in oil & gas production systems and pipelines can be prevented. The oil soluble corrosion inhibitors, water soluble corrosion inhibitors and water dispersible corrosion inhibitors are the different types of corrosion inhibitors.
Cosmetics Self Emulsifying Wax
Cosmetic self emulsifying wax is considered as an ideal medium for blending fluid cosmetics containing oil and water. The cosmetic self emulsifying wax is used in industries manufacturing cosmetics, soaps, lotions etc. It complements the structure of the soaps, crmes and lotions. There are two types of emulsifying waxes “” non ionic self emulsifying wax and ionic self emulsifying wax. The appearance of non ionic self emulsifying wax is white, odourless, flakes which are perfect for preparing ointments, liquid emulsions, lotions and crmes.
Non ionic self emulsifying wax is s a self-emulsifying cream base. Its appearance is white, odorless, flakes and is suitable for the preparation of ointments, lotions, crmes and also liquid emulsions. Non ionic self emulsifying wax is prepared from high purity cetearyl alcohol and polysorbate 60 providing excellent stability. Anionic self emulsifying wax is also known as emulsifying wax NT and produces high quality lotions and crmes which are very smooth. Anionic self emulsifying wax is general purpose emulsifiers which is suitable for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications.
